STYLE GUIDELINES for "WELCOME HOME"
Created for the Boulder Area Realtor® Association by the Daily Camera
Following are some style guides that may be helpful in writing about real estate topics. These "rules" are consistent with the Associated Press Stylebook (well...mostly!).
GENERAL INFORMATION
"Welcome Home" columns in the Daily Camera offer an opportunity to present the viewpoint of the Boulder Area Realtor® Association, and to inform readers on current issues in our real estate market.
Presence in the paper also offers writers an opportunity to "soft market" themselves, by positioning them as local "experts" and authorities.
Columnists are encouraged to include a brief description of their professional expertise and contact information, at the end of the article.
Columnists are also encouraged to provide their professional "mug" shot to be used in the column head.
Photos will be returned if you wish, or kept on file.
It is important that these articles have "reader value," i.e., that readers can gain useful information by reading them.
The most successful articles are the ones that readers clip and pass on to friends.
You know you've hit the target when that happens.
Word count: Columns should be approximately 500-600 words in length.
Text should be e-mailed to: khotard@barastaff.com.
Deadline: Wednesday "morning" preceding date of publication.
(That's intentionally a "soft" deadline - but morning does mean before noon.)
