NEW OFFICE, RETAIL, RESIDENTIAL PLANNED AT INTERLOCKEN
City officials and Interlocken Business Park recently announced six new developments that will begin in 2008, more than five years since the last construction occurred in the business park. The projects will add more than 700,000SF of Class A commercial office space, nearly 60,000SF of new retail and at least 1000 new residential units. Five new hotels are planned in the area. On a side note, Sun Microsystems recently announced that the former StorageTek property in Louisville is under contract. It was reported that the new owners plan to construct Class A commercial office space on the nearly 400-acre parcel. This could represent a serious competitive challenge for Boulder, and its stock of mostly older office buildings. New Class A space is largely only possible here through infill development, a more difficult and costly process.
