TRUSTEES ANNEX DENVER REGIONAL LANDFILL

The 346-acre Denver Regional Landfill (DRL), located in unincorporated Weld County west of WCR 5, was annexed into the Town of Erie on September 11, 2007. Erie benefits from annexing DRL by gaining greater control to address issues that arise at the facility, like trash containment and truck traffic, and by getting a portion of the tipping fees. In 1996, Erie annexed Front Range Landfill located across WCR 5 from DRL. Both landfills are located north of Vista Ridge and Vista Point developments that include thousands of residential units and a limited amount of commercial uses.
