MIXED USE DEVELOPMMENT SLATED FOR ENCLAVE ANNEXATION

City Council annexed a 37-acre enclave parcel in mid May along Colo. 42 located between Summit View Drive and Paschal Drive. Anticipated development will include some commercial and mostly residential uses. The property, know as Takoda Village, should develop residentially at below 3 units per acre. Much of the surrounding property is zoned for high density Planned Community.

CITIZEN GROUP SEEKS TO NEUTER RENEWAL AUTHORITY

Citizens opposed to an appointed commission having authority over a recently established urban renewal authority have filed a ballot initiative. The initiative would put the urban renewal commission in an advisory role if it makes its way to the ballot and is approved by voters. Authority over the redevelopment in the urban renewal area would be passed to the City Council. Specifically, the initiative would require the Council to pass an ordinance whenever any development receives city financing. Fiscal impact studies and const-benefit analyses would also be required. To reach the ballot, supporters must collect at least 641 signatures from qualified electors.
