TRUSTEES ENVISION MIXED USE TOWN CENTER

The 160-acre parcel at the southeast corner of McCaslin and U.S. 36 is the last significant vacant parcel is the Town that can provide sustainable development and bolster Town revenues. Town Trustees voted this month to send out a Request for Proposal seeking a private sector partner to develop a vision for Superior town Center. Officials believe the best use for the property is mixed-use development that includes housing (600-800 units), commercial, retail, office and one or more public uses like a library and/or meeting space. Trustees are also clear that the development must be transit and pedestrian oriented. The site is already in an urban renewal district, meaning that tax and financial incentives can be made available to support development. Proposals are due for delivery to the Town by March 30 and adoption of a development plan is expected by the end of August 2007.
