CITY LEADERS LOOK TO WEAN OFF GROWTH FOR REVENUE

Lafayette leaders are pulling together to develop a 10-year plan that will wean the city off its reliance on growth for revenue and services. The so-called ’10-year sustainability plan’ is intended to help community leaders identify needed revenue to sustain a desirable lifestyle and quality of life for Lafayette residents. The planning effort will incorporate regional revenue forecasts, long term cost and revenue trends as well as risk analysis to formulate potential city actions. In April, the City Council showed support for the effort while not committing to specific actions.

RECOUNT CONFIRMS THAT ANNEXATION VOTE WAS APPROVED

A recount of ballots in the February 27 annexation election confirmed that the annexation measure passed by nearly 10% of voters. The recount results showed just under 55% support and just over 45% opposed to allow annexation of a 32-acre parcel at 119th and Colo. 7, likely thee future site of a Lowe’s Home Improvement Center.
