TRUSTEES ACCEPT TWO ANNEXATION REQUESTS

Town Trustees unanimously agreed to accept two annexation requests on June 18 that could bring 90 new homes and new retail to Lyons. The 40-acre Musser property on Stone Canyon Rd. north of U.S. 36 is proposed for 72 single-family homes. The 23-acre Wipp property, also on Stone Canyon Rd southeast of the Musser property, is proposed for a full-service supermarket and other retail along with an 18-unit multi-family residential development. By accepting the applications, the town committed to process the annexation requests and schedule public hearings as early as August 6. Other steps in the process require a change to Lyons’ intergovernmental agreement with Boulder County, meaning the County Commissioners need to agree. Finally, Should the Trustees approve the annexations in August, voters must approve them at the November 6 election.
