COUNCIL APPROVES URBAN RENEWAL DISTRICT
City Council approved 230-acre urban renewal district at Colo. 42 and South Boulder Rd. on December 5, 2006. The approval authorizes the use of tax-increment-financing to reimburse developers for public infrastructure needed to support redevelopment. The approval also includes an expanded and more hands-on role for City Council.
NORTH END APPROVAL TO RESHAPE POW WOW GROUNDS
City Council approved the first phase of the North End project on the former Pow Wow grounds. The grounds and property surrounding Hecla Lake has been unimproved, vacant parcels for decades. Development of the property includes 350 homes and more than 65,000 square feet of commercial/retail.
