"I don’t think we can put three things—higher education, transportation, health care—on the ballot. I think that’s unfair to the voters, I think it would demonstrate a lack of leadership on my part and on the part of the legislature." Governor Bill Ritter, speaking in early November 2007 on whether to ask voters to consider new funding for the state’s highest priorities. Ritter and legislators will need to come to a meeting of the minds by spring on what priority they want to ask voters to fund in November 2008.
