COUNCIL EXPECTED TO ISSUE BONDS FOR ROAD IMPROVEMENTS
City council will decide as early as May 1 whether to ask voters to approve up to $87 million in bonds to improve roads without increasing taxes. City leaders expect sales tax revenues to continue increasing but believe it is necessary to issue bonds to get major capital projects underway in the near term. One of the targets of the bond issue is construction of roads and infrastructure to support redevelopment of the old Albertsons shopping center.
COMMISSION APPROVES SHADY ACRES REDEVELOPMENT
The Lafayette Planning Commission gave preliminary approval for the redevelopment of Shady Acres mobile home park on April 18, 2007. Redeveloping the area has long been desired by city officials. The nearly 8-acre parcel is likely to transform into missed use, three story units on the north end of the parcel along South Boulder Road east of Public Road, with a mix of residential uses to the south. The developer, Baseline Commons, LLC is also planning to create a new north to south neighborhood street splitting the property.
