NORTH END DEVELOPMENT SCHEDULED FOR SEPTEMBER DECISION
The proposed development of 74-acres north of South Boulder Rd. east of Colo. 42 will go to the Planning Commission for a final hearing on September 14. Last year Markel Homes applied to build 492 homes and 43,700 square feet of commercial on two parcels that surround Hecla Lake and includes the former Pow Wow grounds. In May 2005 the Planning Commission gave the project preliminary approval and reduced the number of homes to 350 while increasing the commercial space to 65,650 square feet. The developer will also be require to dedicate 18-acres of the site for public uses.
