COMMISSIONERS APPROVE THREE QUESTIONS FOR NOVEMBER BALLOT
The Boulder County Board of Commissioners have unanimously approved three questions for the November ballot; one, the so-called TABOR override, would allow the County to keep and spend all surplus property taxes it collects that it would otherwise have to refund under the state Taxpayers Bill of Rights (TABOR), and two will extend term limits of certain elected county officials. If voters say yes to the TABOR override it will permanently exempt Boulder County from TABOR restrictions and result in an effective tax increase. Owners of a median priced home in Boulder County, valued at $306,000, would pay an additional $14.61 in annual property taxes. Two ballot questions will seek approval to increase elected officials’ term limits from two four-year terms to three four-year terms. One question will seek extended term limits for the County Clerk and Recorder and the Sheriff. The second will extend terms for the County’s Assessor, Treasurer, Coroner, and Surveyor. A question to extend the terms of the County Commissioners will not be on the ballot.
