COUNTY LIKELY TO ASK FOR EXEMPTION FROM TABOR LIMITS
Boulder County Commissioners are expected to ask voters to exempt some or all county revenue from the Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights (TABOR) that require government to refund taxes paid above the law’s revenue limits. The so-called de-brucing measure could appear on the November 2005 election ballot. At this time, Commissioners say the county has no plans to put a measure on the November ballot but that is likely t change if public interest supports it. County officials say that mental health services and facilities maintenance have been especially hard hit by budget cuts as a result of TABOR.
