EVENTS CENTER PLANNED NEAR TRANSIT VILLAGE
A 6000-seat events center is being planned in Broomfield at the southwest corner of W. 120th Avenue and U.S. 36. The nearly 200,000 square foot facility will sit on a 10-acre parcel in the middle of a transit, retail and mixed-use village known as Arista. The events center is being compared to the 7200-seat Budweiser Events Center in northern Colorado. The Broomfield Events Center is expected to host up to 130 events per year that would include rodeos, sports, music venues, performances, trade shows and cultural events. The $45 million facility is expected to support economic development and retail sales. Nearby Arista will include up to 800,000 square feet of retail space and 1200 housing units.

RESERVOIR PLANNED FOR STORAGE OF WINDY GAP WATER SHARES
A 6000-acre-foot reservoir will be constructed on a 520-acre parcel in north Broomfield near the Northwest Parkway. In late May, City Council approved the purchase of the $21 million property, known as the Hoopes Farm, north of 144th Ave. and west of Lowell Blvd. Construction of the reservoir is estimated to cost an additional $50 million. The reservoir is planned to avoid building a second 33-mile pipeline from Carter Lake and will store water the city receives from its Windy Gap water shares supplied by the Northern Colorado Water Conservancy District. Bonds to finance construction of the reservoir will be paid off by water tap fees.
