COMMISSIONERS APPROVE TAX HIKE AND BUDGET INCREASE
The Board of County Commissioners approved a 5.9 percent hike in property taxes for 2005. The tax increase on a $300,000 house will be approximately $28. With the increase, property taxes should generate nearly $100 million in revenue for the County in 2005. The county’s 2005 budget is $236.9 million. A 6.6 percent increase over the 2004 budget of $222.3 million.
