BELEAGUERED HOUSING AUTHORITY HIRES PRO TO FIX SECTION 8 PROGRAM
The Boulder County Board of Commissioners has hired the former head of the Denver Housing Authority (DHA) to correct deficiencies in the Boulder County section 8 program identified by federal auditors. Chuck Scholz was hired as the new Section 8 occupancy director in late July based on his knowledge and experience in affordable housing programs. Scholz is a longtime Longmont resident and he recently retired from his position at the DHA. Boulder County Housing Authority (BCHA) is recovering from financial problems and mismanagement of federal funds requiring a $1 million taxpayer bailout last year. BCHA is making progress on recovery and is estimated to be about two-thirds the way on its path to compliance and fiscal soundness.
