FIRESTONE ANNEXATION ALLOWS UP TO 585 NEW HOMES
Firestone Trustees unanimously approved a 297-acre annexation and low-density residential zoning for a parcel of land at Weld County Roads 24 and 26 just east of WCR 17. The property is planned for up to 585 single family homes with lots sizes up to ¾-acre. While the property is within Frederick’s planning area it is at the farthest northeastern section, ½ mile from the current Town limit.
MEAD FILES SUIT CHALLENGING WELD COUNTY SANITIATON DISTRICT VOTE
Town of Mead Trustees filed a lawsuit in late March asking the court to stop eight landowners who want to develop 3000-acres of unincorporated land near Mead and to stop the landowners from forming an $8.1 million sanitation district to serve homes and businesses built on the land. The lawsuit specifically challenges the procedures followed by the Weld county Commissioners when they approved the sanitation district in February. The proposed East Interstate 25 Sanitation District was approved on land north and south of Colo. 66, east of I-25 between WCR 40 and WCR 17. The case will be reviewed in Weld District Court in May.
