ERIE INKS BORDER AGREEMENT WITH DACONO
Erie officials inked a deal with its neighboring Town of Dacono on March 22 establishing I-25 as the border between the two towns. Under the intergovernmental agreement, Erie cannot annex land east of I-25, south of Colo. 52 and north of Weld County Rd. 6. Likewise, Dacono cannot annex west of I-25 within the same north and south boundaries. In addition, the towns will allow each other to review annexations within ½ mile of the centerline on I-25. The agreement will be in place for five years.
ERIE FACES FREDERICK LEGAL ACTION OVER ANNEXATION AT COLO. 52
In January 2005, Erie annexed the Cavalier property and adjoining easements located at WCR 7 and Colo. 52 on an emergency vote. The 50-acre property was annexed for agricultural uses and open space. Frederick filed suit against Erie in March to overturn the annexation. The move essentially locked in the Erie and Frederick border, limiting Frederick’s ability to annex south of Colo. 52. Erie officials have until April 4, 2005 to respond to the suit.
